CSS Saves The Day

“Twitter is a real-time information network powered by people all around the world that lets you share and discover what’s happening now.” – Twitter.com/about

A professional actress required a clean and origional approach to her website design with the ability to pull her Twitter feed direct to her website so that visitors can see right away in under 140 characters what she is up to.

This is great! I love the idea of updating your own website status via your Twitter feed, think of the convenience. However my problem started when I came to researching into the best way of doing this.

As I am relatively new to web design at first I, like many other people, didn’t know how else to implement this other than using Twitter’s pre- built badges and widgets. Now these are a great resource for people who have personal websites, casual bloggers or people who are not graphically or website design trained.

However having a strong background in graphic design I find myself cringing at the sight of the very ugly and out of place Twitter boxes on some websites, do they not have a conscience for the design?

After some searching I found out that Twitter now provide an API service to their registered users to use jSON to pull information from their feed. The best thing is now the designer has full control over the way the feed is displayed giving the option to fully customize the tweets, tags, links, date and time. Thus, the design balance has been restored!

This is great news for graphic designers like me who are learning web design and are not only interested in learning and providing the latest digital trends but are equally concerned about the overall esthetic look and feel of the website design.

My latest website designs implement the use of this API and use the flexible CSS design features to create a custom Twitter feed that is in keeping with the overall design. Yet again CSS saves the day!

M2′s Gone Mobile

“jQuery mobile framework takes the “write less, do more” mantra to the next level: Instead of writing unique apps for each mobile device or OS, the jQuery mobile framework will allow you to design a single highly branded and customized web application that will work on all popular smartphone and tablet platforms.” – jQuery, 2011

I have created my first mobile website following the jQuery mobile framework which has resulted in a nice, neat and easy to use interface with smart page transitions. This addition to my website will allow visitors who are accessing through their smartphones to be greeted with finger friendly buttons, simple and sharp graphics that will allow them to see my latest work, news and much more.

With the aid of the jQuery mobile framework the mobile website was put together with ease taking full advantage of pre written codes, great for beginners like me. However I have merely scraped the barrel of the jQuery mobile goodness and hope to be updating very soon taking full advantage of some very smart features it has to offer.

Feel free to have a nose at the finished site and if you experience any issues, have any advice on what I could incorporate on the next update or simply want to say hi please get in touch or leave a message.

Thanks for reading

Martin.

New and Improved Website

Hello and welcome to my blog and new, improved website where more features have been added to provide a better all round user experience as well as being more interactive.

The latest feature on my website is a personal website service to help promote actors in a slick, clean, stylish way at affordable costs. This is being offered through the creation of template designs, which have been specially created and built with actors in mind.

Giving them the promotional opportunity to make them stand and have the ability to show off their skills and talents to future employers / agencies in the best possible way.

Any feedback on this new service would be gratefully received.
